Registered nurses in the communities served by St. Johns College have requested that the College provide Continuing Education for nurses and their colleagues in other disciplines. The College has established a Continuing Education Department based on a feasibility study of need. It is the mission of St. John's College, Department of Continuing Education to provide excellence in continuing health education to support life long learning and professional development for individuals throughout life's continuum.

Franciscan Inspired Leadership
A four day immersion experience in leadership formation for frontline nurse leaders. Every student will be asked to complete a project specific to a need within their organization. Project and learning outcomes will fall into the categories of Colleague Engagement, Patient Satisfaction, Budget/Productivity, Quality and/or Risk. A variety of qualified leaders from Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) will serve as faculty and content experts. Coaching and mentoring will be provided to each student from the St. John's College, Dept. of Continuing Education Leadership Coordinator, program faculty, and the HSHS Learning Team.

Healing Through Emotions
A continuing education program designed to build skill sets for health care providers dealing with emotions.

Description: Sooner or later, regardless of credentials or years of service, a professional experiences the "I don't know what to say" moment. Such moments offer an opportunity to be an accompanero - one who accompanies in the absence of solutions; one who shows up and keeps showing up!

Description: Addressing the emotional needs of the caregiver as an essential component of caring for others
3. Working Together: Inter-professional Aspects of End-of-Life Care
Description: Capturing the moments of opportunity to engage in inter-professional practice to facilitate healing through emotions for the client(s).
4. Diversity of Emotions
Description: Identifying and understanding the meaning of diverse emotions care providers may encounter to facilitate healing.
5. Nurturing and Support in Spiritual Care
Description: Ways to nurture the human spirit are described in addition to spiritual care strategies in healing through emotions.
6. Healing Faster through Emotions: an Evidence-Based Practice
Description: A guide of mind-body techniques to reduce anxiety before surgery and heal faster.
