College Initiatives

St John’s College Initiatives and Strategic Plan 2012-2016

In fall for 2011, the College Board commissioned the development of a 5 year strategic plan for St. John’s College. A Strategic Planning Group was formed which included board members, alumni, faculty, students, college staff, community members, Friends of the College and representatives from collaborating education institutions. Over a 9 month time period the group met on a monthly basis to review the vision and mission of the college, comprehensive data regarding the current state of the college, and together reached consensus on the college’s strategic direction and objectives to be achieved over the next 5 years.

The 2012-2016 strategic initiatives and objectives fall under the following 4 major strategies:

Franciscan Formation
•    Continue the Mission of the Hospital Sisters and combine the aspects of spirituality and effective Franciscan Formation in order to integrate Franciscan values into our lives.
Academic Excellence and Health System Integration
•    Leverage contemporary curriculum, education, master clinicians and innovative teaching/learning strategies in both traditional and virtual settings to differentiate the St. John’s College academic experience.
•    Collaborate with Health System, community education partners and broad array of professionals and academicians to create a culture of learning and scholarly work that extends beyond the walls of St. John’s College.
Develop Our People
•    Retain and attract the most talented educators and students to fulfill and sustain our educational ministry and to assure availability of exceptional nurses for the communities we serve.
Stewardship: Operations and Finance
•    Achieve the highest standards of educational/financial performance through careful and reasonable use of resources and management of St John’s College.
•    Utilize the latest advances in technology to optimize the academic experience and to advance research and scholarly work.
•    Develop a culture of philanthropy and stewardship among constituents.
