Welcome to the St. John’s College website! I am pleased you are taking time to peruse our site and review all we have to offer. St. John’s College is a special focus college of nursing offering the last two years of the baccalaureate degree in nursing as well as continuing education programs for nurses and health professionals. Our Vision is to educate nurses and health professionals for innovative practice excellence and values-based leadership. Founded by the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, the college strives to incorporate Franciscan values in all that we do. We believe that all human beings possess intrinsic dignity and worth and together we form a nursing education community that is founded on the key values of Caring, Respect, Competence and Joy.

St. John’s College offers several baccalaureate program options to meet the needs of our students. The traditional prelicensure student who enters St. John’s has completed all nursing prerequisites prior to admission and will complete the baccalaureate degree in four semesters. For the prelicensure student with a degree in another field and completion of program prerequisites, a 15 month accelerated option is available. The Accelerated cohort completes the same curriculum as the traditional prelicensure students, but within a compressed time period. A baccalaureate program option for the Registered Nurse is also available and is offered in a hybrid distance format. The RN to BSN option has a distinct curriculum which builds on the acquired knowledge and skills of the professional RN.

Regardless of the program option, all students at St. John’s College receive a rigorous education. Our students are fortunate to have access to a nationally recognized teaching hospital and clinical sites within walking distance of the College. St. John’s students learn leadership through service activities, including active student government and class officer positions. Our graduates consistently pass the licensure exam at rates higher than the state and national average. As leaders, innovators, and life-long learners, many students continue onto graduate school to earn advanced degrees and several have become entrepreneurs.

With the support of the College Board, Alumni, the Friends of the College and community as a whole, the College continues to grow and form new partnerships. This coming year brings simulation laboratory upgrades, interprofessional learning experiences, and increasing numbers of faculty pursuing doctoral education. It takes many to achieve this success. We select each new class of students with the purpose of educating superb nurse leaders prepared to deliver excellent nursing care to those individuals we serve. Please consider joining us.

    Sincerely,
